During the summer, train companies held a consultation on reducing the staffing hours of ticket offices at some stations.
At the time, the Government told train companies that no currently staffed station should be left unstaffed as a result of the changes.
The train companies submitted their proposals to Transport Ministers a few weeks ago, including a plan to reduce ticket office hours at Wellington Station. Ministers have rejected them.
I understand that ensuring access to stations for elderly people, disabled people, and parents with children in prams or pushchairs was a key factor in retaining ticket offices.
Following the Government's announcement, I have received confirmation from West Midlands Trains that there will be no changes to the ticket office staffing at Wellington Station.
