Mark has welcomed confirmation from the Minister of State for Health and Social Care that the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford will continue to provide 24-hour, seven-day a week enhanced urgent care for local residents.
Mark submitted a written parliamentary question to the Health and Social Care Ministers on 10 October 2022 to seek confirmation that the creation of an A&E Local at the PRH would not lead to reduced hours of cover or a lack of urgent care provision.
Responding, Minister of State Will Quince confirmed that providing 24-hour, seven-day a week enhanced urgent care at PRH is part of the recently approved Strategic Outline Case for the Hospitals Transformation Programme in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
Commenting, Mark said:
"Whilst a new super hospital would still be a really good solution, I am glad that the new Government is committed to spending a record £312 million in the county and that the A&E Local - with its 24-hour, seven-day a week cover - is part of that investment. This should reassure many local residents."
