This week I was delighted to meet with representatives of the FA, Premier League and Football Foundation to discuss plans to improve grassroots football facilities in The Wrekin constituency.
Over the last few years, the Football Foundation has worked with local councils and communities to create a Local Football Facility Plan for every local authority area in England.
You can see the plan for Telford & Wrekin here - https://localplans.footballfoundation.org.uk/local-authorities-index/te…
And the plan for Shropshire here - https://localplans.footballfoundation.org.uk/local-authorities-index/sh…
Grassroots football is the most popular team sport in England and many pitches require a significant upgrade.
The Government will invest an additional £550m into grassroots football facilities over the next 10 years. This funding will transform the grassroots football infrastructure across England.
It was a pleasure to meet Chris Hughton - former manager of Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United, Norwich City, Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest - at the event!
