I have joined thousands of local residents to oppose Telford & Wrekin Council’s draft Local Plan, which would see countryside bulldozed and hundreds of trees felled.
Under the Labour-led Council’s plans, developers would get the green light to build 12,500 new homes with little thought about the impact on schools, GP surgeries, dentists, farmland, roads and drainage systems.
I have also objected to plans to build thousands of new homes on pristine farmland near Shifnal and greenbelt land in Albrighton and Tong.
I support some new housing, including affordable housing for key workers and first time buyers, but those new homes must be built in the right place and in the right numbers.
Developers should use brownfield sites, not dig up green fields or destroy good quality farmland and greenbelt.
Labour want to redesignate parts of the greenbelt as ‘grey belt’ to make it easier to build on local greenbelt areas.
Keir Starmer has boasted that he would send in the bulldozers. I have lived in Shropshire for 22 years and I want to protect our local greenbelt.
