24/7 Emergency Care Services Staying at PRH

The PRH will retain 24 hour, 7 day a week emergency care services.

About 80% of the A&E services currently provided at the PRH will still be provided there.  Emergency and acute medicine consultants and advanced emergency care practitioners will still be based at the PRH.  Planned surgery will move from Shrewsbury to Telford, which is great news for local patients.  A new £24 million planned care facility at the PRH (opening soon) will provide skilled surgery in orthopaedics, breast, gynaecology, ear, nose, and throat and other conditions

All of this is part of a record £312 million investment by the Conservative Government into the local NHS.

The changes to how local health services are organised between RSH and PRH have been recommended by the local NHS Trust, local clinicians, and West Midlands Ambulance Service as a way to save lives, reduce ambulance waiting times, and to attract and retain the right clinical staff.

As the reorganisation of local hospital services continues, I will continue to trust the views of NHS clinicians over the scaremongering tactics of Labour councillors with little or no healthcare experience.
