Today, Mark visited Wellington Orbit to see the progress being made with its government-funded redevelopment.

It was great to hear about the next steps from Finance Director Ray Hughes and Chairman (and former Wellington Mayor) Phil Morris-Jones MBE.

Phase 1 of the Orbit project saw the opening of a 63-seat cinema and café.

The next phase has been made possible by the £9.8m secured from the Government's regeneration fund in 2023, which included £1.7m to expand and improve the Orbit.

The refurbishment will more than double the size of the Orbit’s current facilities, creating community spaces for exhibitions, performing arts and community outreach services.

The investment will bring more visitors to Wellington, increasing footfall for businesses in the town, as well as providing services for the local community.

Work is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2025.
