The Government has announced a new £8 billion pothole fund, paid for with money saved by cancelling the HS2 northern phase.
To fix potholes, Telford & Wrekin Council will receive an extra £548,000 this year, another £548,000 next year - and a total of £32m over the next 11 years.
Shropshire Council will receive an extra £2.6m this year, another £2.6m next year - and a total of £153m over the next 11 years.
Most people travel by road, and potholes can result in expensive vehicle repairs and bumpy, slow and dangerous journeys.
I welcome this new investment from the Government, which is the biggest ever uplift in funding for local road improvements.
