Mark has welcomed the increase in the number of neonatal nurses working in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin NHS over the last year.
In response to a parliamentary question from Mark, the Health Ministers confirmed that the number of local neonatal nurses rose from 44 in April 2023 to 53 in April 2024 - an increase of 20 per cent.
More than 100,000 babies (about 1 in 7 babies born in the UK) are admitted into neonatal care in the UK each year.
Commenting, Mark said:
"I am pleased to see more neonatal nurses providing care for premature and unwell newborns in The Wrekin. It is vital that those babies receive the best round-the-clock care. I want to thank all the neonatal nurses, midwives, doctors and other clinicians who provide that care and support to my constituents and their new arrivals."
