Today in Parliament, Mark joined Disability Rights UK CEO Kamran Malik to commemorate the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Held on 3 December this year, the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities focuses on the importance of disability inclusion as an essential condition to upholding human rights, sustainable development, peace and security.
This year's theme is innovation for inclusive development, including innovation to help disabled people access employment and opportunities to participate in sport.
Commenting, Mark said:
"I was pleased to have the opportunity to discuss the needs of disabled people with Disability Rights UK. Following the Autumn Statement, I welcome the Government's decision to increase disability benefits and Carers' Allowance in line with inflation. Disabled people will also receive a second Disability Cost-of-Living Payment of £150 in recognition of the extra challenges they face as prices rise, as part of our commitment to support the most vulnerable in society."
