An estimated 118 lion trophies have been brought into Britain since 2015. Those trophies have included skins, skulls and heads.
Mark has met with FOURPAWS representatives in Parliament to support the campaign to ban the importing of hunting trophies into Britain.
The Hunting Trophies (Import Prohibition) Bill was introduced to Parliament in 2022 to ban the import of hunting trophies from around 6,000 species, including lions, elephants, rhinos, and polar bears.
Despite strong support from MPs and the public, the Bill failed to progress through the House of Lords.
The Bill has been re-introduced to Parliament. Mark supports the Bill’s aims and I will continue to encourage Ministers to help deliver a ban which the public and MPs clearly support.
