Shelve parking review, says MP

Wrekin MP, Mark Pritchard, said that a parking review currently taking place in Wellington should be “shelved”.

Telford & Wrekin Borough Council are currently considering changing Parking Orders for the Tan Bank car park in Wellington, with one option being the introduction of a two hour maximum waiting limit - with no return within one hour.

Mark Pritchard said:

“The Borough Council should have learned lessons from the past. Any changes to parking in Wellington is an emotive issue. I will oppose any changes that impact on the economic well being of the town or the convenience of those people who live and work in the town”.

The MP has written to Borough Chiefs objecting to the plans.

The MP who led a successful campaign against car parking charges five years ago, added:

“I am also disappointed that neither Wellington Town Councillors or I have been asked for our comments”.
